CHILD THERAPISTS IN NORTH HOLLYWOOD & ONLINE ACROSS CA, UT, SC, FL & VT

Helping kids get back to “just being kids.”

Science-focused, personalized therapy to help your child truly thrive.

No matter how many sticker charts you buy, nothing changes.

Your child might be saying things like “My life stinks!” or “My teacher hates me.” Most days they’re scared, confused, or nearly impossible to console (and sometimes all three of those things at once). Amid the regular meltdowns, you’re noticing more stomach aches and tendencies to avoid situations that make them uncomfortable because they feel “icky” or tired.

Maybe you’re here because your child…

  • Has huge reactions to small problems

  • Refuses to go anywhere without you or just refuses to go to school

  • Is constantly getting into trouble at school—sent to the principal’s office, disrupting class, or just not able to stay focused

  • Worries about “bad guys,” has bad dreams, or complains of a stomachache every Monday through Friday

  • Isn’t “fitting in” and has a hard time making friends

  • Has a hard time listening and following directions

  • Says “No!” so much more often than they say, “Yes”

You’re exhausted from trying to understand what they need and it seems like their peers—and parents— have things under control, which only makes you feel worse.

Even though it hurts to say it and you don’t like admitting it, sometimes these big feelings can make it feel hard to like them (and some days, maybe even hard to love them).

Of course, you love them—you’d do anything to see them thrive, build healthy relationships, and feel confident in themselves. But no matter what you try, nothing seems to truly work. You’re determined to get to the bottom of it, to finally find what will help and someone who can truly connect with your child. The parenting books, the podcasts, the endless advice—they’ve all started to blur together, leaving you feeling more lost than ever. You’re desperate to help them have the joyful, fulfilling childhood they deserve, without their behavior constantly getting in the way.

When children feel better they do better.

HOW THERAPY FOR CHILDREN WORKS

Your child isn't acting out on purpose, and you're not failing as a parent. Kids just have a different way of processing their emotions and experiences than adults do.

For therapy to work, your child needs to feel safe, accepted, and connected with their therapist. We know that depending on their age, keeping kids engaged takes the right approach, the right therapist, and a generous dose of fun—and we’re proud to be that for them.

As we move forward, we’ll identify what’s at the root of your child’s struggles, pain, or unhappiness and explore what motivates them to work toward their goals. Some children have unique social and sensory experiences, making it difficult for them to navigate typical social or academic settings—we’ll recognize and honor that, too.

We can help your child better understand their emotions and how their brain and body react to different feelings.

Using relatable examples—like the calm of an owl or the alertness of a watchdog—we make these ideas easy for them to connect with. From there, we’ll work together to create a personalized toolkit of strategies they actually like to use, such as mindfulness, breathing exercises, and positive self-talk. We’ll also guide them in tackling negative thoughts and shifting their emotions through ‘opposite actions,’ giving them practical tools to feel more in control of their feelings.

As we stay attuned to their nervous system, they can feel safe and understood in all of their “big” and little emotions. If your child is feeling particularly overwhelmed, we may incorporate techniques like Brainspotting or the Safe and Sound Protocol to address their needs from a "bottom-up" perspective.

Your child is awesome, loveable, and valuable just as they are.

They can do this, and so can you.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

We know how important you are in your child or teen’s life.

We honor and respect your role as a parent and as our partner in this process. You play a key role in helping your child grow and change, so we’ll encourage you to be actively involved in their therapy.

The benefits of parental involvement include…

  • We’re all in this together! As parents, you’ll have the chance to learn alongside your kids. By understanding the emotion regulation tools, distress tolerance skills, and problem-solving strategies they’re being taught, you can model these skills at home. This way, learning doesn’t just happen during our 45-minute sessions each week, it becomes a daily practice!

  • One of the most important things we can offer our kids is validation. Whether they’re dealing with anxiety, anger, or any other feelings, it’s crucial for them to know that their emotions and experiences make sense. As parents, you are in the best position to provide this support, even when their behavior feels overwhelming, out of control, or downright infuriating. Your role in learning to validate their feelings can make all the difference.

  • Every behavior is shaped by reinforcement, and together we can guide your child toward more positive behaviors. With tools like praise, rewards, and encouragement, you’ll help them build coping skills and face challenges with confidence. Your involvement is essential to their progress!

  • Parenting kids with big feelings can make it hard to stay calm and level-headed. We’re here to support you in managing your own emotions, especially when things get tough. We’ll work on self-regulation skills to help you stay calm and effective when your child is upset or acting out. When you model emotion regulation, it can have a profound impact on your child, showing them how to handle big emotions in real-time—something we can't always do in a therapy session.

  • We see parents as active partners in their child’s therapy. You’ll be involved in setting goals and learning the same skills as your child, which allows you to support them at home. This collaborative approach helps ensure that the skills taught in our sessions take root in everyday life.

  • Ultimately, our goal is to help you create an environment where your child can thrive emotionally, confidently, and independently. Together, we can build that strong foundation for their bright future.

We can help your child…

Learn how to understand and validate themselves.

Do hard things (and be proud of it!).

Develop,  grow, and appreciate the “superpowers” they already have.

Learn to notice their emotions and respond with more calm and understanding.

Learn coping skills to help them get through “hot” moments without making things worse.

Together…

We will explore what it means to be resilient and brave in the face of challenges.

Your child can learn to embrace their own special qualities and recognize that it's okay to ask for help. This journey can empower them to not only understand their emotions but also navigate their world with confidence, so they can have a more fulfilling and joyful childhood.

Common questions about therapy for children

  • You’re not alone—this is very common. Very few children jump willingly and excitedly into therapy, and that makes sense. Our primary goal and first step in the process is always to make them feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed. As a parent, you’ll be involved in the entire process, and we’ll tailor our approach to your child’s unique needs. If you have more questions, feel free to schedule a consultation HERE, and we can talk more about the process and any concerns you may have.

  • Behavior is your child’s way of communicating deeper feelings. Therapy will help both you and your child figure out what's behind these behaviors, so they can better understand themselves. We'll teach healthier ways to express emotions and cope with stress, while also helping you as a parent learn how to support and guide them. Together, we’ll provide strategies for managing these behaviors in all areas of their life.

  • If your child is struggling with frequent worries, intense emotional reactions, or challenges in school, therapy can help. Whether or not they have a diagnosis, like ADHD, autism, or neurodivergence, if their behavior or feelings are getting in the way of their daily life, therapy can provide the support they need. These are exactly the kinds of challenges we help parents and children understand, so you can walk away with the skills, tools, and confidence to thrive.
